Lowriders you gotta love em’
This website is called Speed Culture™ but that doesn’t mean we don’t like cars that can be most enjoyed driving slow. ( he, he) The lowrider is what I call a true american classic… why? Because it’s american original started right here in the good ole US of A. Lowriders have always been special to me… I was buying Lowrider magazine in the early 90’s when I had to get it from an adult book store. Seeing postings from a recent show (view show here) made me want to write a quick post to share just how cool these rides are even today.
What is considered a true lowrider? Hydros of course! Sorry you guys with just straight air-ride I personally can’t consider you a true lowrider… your ride is considered “bagged”. But let me digress…
A History of Lowriders…
Lowriders got there start in 30’s actually but it wasn’t until the late 50’s early 60’s did you start seeing the lowriders you see today. I could on about the history of the lowrider but I will simply share a link to our friends at Lowrider.com – for an original of the culture click here.
I have always had a love for these cars. To me lowriders and their culture represent some of the best riders and most passionate car people in our hobby. The hydros, the chrome, the metal work, and for sure the paint all go into making these rides what we call “tha-shit”. I am sure you spent 100’s of hours making your ride sweet, but you gotta admit some of these lowrider guys take it to the next level.
In the future I hope to see more lowrider shows posted on our website and app. Hopefully some on the east coast. Until then I’ll just have to look at more online and drool at the pics and video.
